About Kathy (Laughter Yoga Teacher and Laughter Yoga Ambassador)

I am a three time cancer survivor (breast 2x and a bit of skin cancer). I believe that my positive attitude is a big part of the reason I survived that ordeal. 10 years ago I remember hearing that even if you did not feel happy, that forcing a smile would trick your body into feeling happy. I started many days forcing a toothy grin before I even got out of bed!

I began a yoga practice right before my second surgery and it changed my life. As I became more accepting and less judgmental of myself, I was able to apply this to my life off the mat towards others and our world.

A few years ago, I heard about Laughter Yoga and it sounded like the perfect marriage of two things I love. In April of 2018, I dove right into getting certified as a Laughter Yoga Leader without even trying a class first.

Practicing Laughter Yoga has been so healing for me mentally, physically and emotionally. Laughing out loud and long is so freeing for someone who always got in trouble in school and work for laughing. It helps me be accepting of who I am (funny, happy, goofy) and has helped me tap into imagination and creativity I didn't know I had.  It has also helped me find my mission and purpose, to use Laughter Yoga to create world peace.

Leading Laughter Yoga sessions is a privilege and at the end of our sessions I am humbled when the participants say things like they feel healed, things that hurt before class no longer hurt, they feel lighter, more energized, etc.
